Experiencing the Care of First Responders

As many already know, we started the local Arizona T.A.C.T. franchises after we had a personal need when David’s father passed away and we needed professional assistance in the remediation of the biohazard.  Since starting the company, our endeavor has been to educate the community on our services so that one’s last memory of their loved one has nothing to do with cleaning.  The educational work includes supporting our First Responders so that they too know where to guide the community since they are usually on scene when such experience these tragic events. 

This past month, on March 14^th, my family felt the care and compassion of our local Fire and Police Departments when my father, Robert Dykstra, very unexpectedly died peacefully while taking a nap in his favorite chair.  The Fire Department were the first to respond and assist my mother who was home with Dad at the time.  They had the heartbreaking responsibility of telling her there was nothing that could be done.  When she called to tell me and my sister, the words just wouldn’t come for her, and those same men had to tell us over the phone.  When we arrived, those men were hugging and crying right alongside with my mother.  The empathy that they expressed was overwhelming.  As they turned the investigation over to the Police, the same concern and understanding was felt by the whole family.

The point of my sharing this is that we often think of our First Responders as brave men and women who have elected a profession where they put themselves in danger of fighting fires and the ‘bad guys’ to help protect the community.  But do we think of all the other emotional needs that they care for?  This was a one-time event for me to say good-bye to my father for the last time, but how many times have these First Responders had to tell someone their loved one was gone, hug them and hand them tissues?  Support for our First Responders should not just include proper physical equipment but also mental health. 

We at T.A.C.T.  are proud to support agencies and organizations that provide programs to support our First Responders.  On a personal note, my family greatly appreciates the care, compassion and treatment that you provided to us and the dignity that you provided to my Dad.  Thank you.

Since 20217, there has been an escalating rise in homelessness in Arizona.  The local authorities and many organizations are working to assist those in need and get them the help that they need.  Unfortunately, the encampments themselves can have a range of biohazardous threats and hazards that may be left behind – from discarded needles, human and animal waste, rodents, remnants of campfires, and litter to name a few. 

These situations take more than just a general clean up.  T.A.C.T. uses certified biohazard remediation professionals that are equipped with proper PPE and who are experienced and knowledgeable.  We strictly adhere to local and federal safety regulations in the disposal of all the hazards.  If you have an encampment near your home or business that needs to be cleared, contact us for assistance.
